Ant and Dec reveal why they were 'disappointed' after Dean quit 'easiest' I’m A Celeb trial

ITV viewers were surprised to hear the Geordie presenters discussing Dean's failure to complete the challenge

It's rare for Ant and Dec to take a particular stance when it comes to the antics of the I'm A Celeb campmates.

Last night, however, the Geordie duo had a fair amount to say about Dean McCullough's recent Bucktucker fail, admitting they were 'disappointed' to hear the Radio 1 presenter call out those dreaded eight words.

Last night saw 32-year-old Dean take on his first official challenge after being voted to take part by the general public.

Titled 'Sinister Sarcophagus', the mission saw the Gaydio host shut into a small, coffin-like space before the ITV show's presenters asked him a series of Egypt-related questions.

Each question answered correct released a star, which Dean would have to grab between his teeth, with each star in turn representing a meal for his hungry campmates to tuck into.

Sadly, however, despite managing to bag a handful of stars - with 10 available at the beginning of the trial - the trial seemingly became too much for the Northern Irish star to handle, and he was seen breaking down in tears.

Despite receiving words of encouragement from the IAC presenters, however, Dean yelled out, 'I'm a celebrity, get me out of here', after which he was removed from the coffin and had his stars removed.

And in a follow-up interview, it became clear that neither Ant nor Dec were pleased with the move, telling I'm A Celebrity Unpacked viewers they wanted to see the trial 'done properly'.

Dec began: "We are genuinely disappointed because you are prepared to do the whole trial and you want to see the whole thing."

"There’s a lot of time gone into the trials so when it’s called early your like, 'Aww'.

"That’s why we continued to ask him some questions after because we were really enjoying it."

Ant then jibed: "But on the other side we’re like 'oh, a bit of an early finish, let’s get out and get a suntan'."

Then, asked directly if crew members become disgruntled when a celebrity sacks off a challenge early doors, the pair confirmed they do.

"They just want to see it done properly," Ant admitted.

"Even in the past when we’ve had people not go through with it we’ve sometime bought the trials back because we want them to be seen."

And by the sounds of things, viewers are in agreement that Dean should have swallowed his fear and got on with it, believing their will be worse trials to come.

"Dean has just bottled one of the easiest challenges I’ve seen on," one social media viewer hit out.

Another continued: "Probably the easiest trial in I’m a celeb history! Dean is definitely going to be up for every trial now!! A tad bit too dramatic!"

A third added: "As if Dean said 'I’m a celebrity get me out of here' because of some sand!!!"
