Kate Garraway’s fans have leapt to her defence after social media users slammed her interviewing style on Life Stories.
Garraway picked up the ITV presenting gig after replacing Piers Morgan, who left the show in 2021 to focus on his work with Talk TV.

In the most recent series, Garraway’s guests have shared some heartbreaking person confessions, including Strictly Come Dancing’s Anton Du Beke saying his dad stabbed him in the leg and the stomach when he was a child.
On the second episode, comedian Ruby Wax also opened up about her traumatic childhood, recalling that her Jewish parents were emotionally scarred after living under the Nazi regime in Austria, leading to a chaotic household which she fled as a teenager.
The final episode aired last week and starred The Mummy actor Omid Djalili.
He recalled an incident where he was shot at with a rifle while studying in Northern Ireland during the Troubles.

He recalled: “These guys come over to me and they said, ‘Do you want your kneecaps blown off?’
“One guy ran away and his friend said, ‘oh god he’s serious you better run’ and he came back with an air rifle and started taking shots at me.
“‘I got shot at with a rifle and I ran away, they came chasing after me, I hid behind a bin.”

All fairly gripping stuff you would have thought, but some viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to complain about Garraway’s interviewing style, with one describing her interview with Omid as ‘cringeworthy’
Another wrote: “Kate Garraway doesn’t seem to let any guest properly reply to her questions without her chucking another one at them. It’s quite difficult to watch. Messes with the rhythm and flow of the chat.”
A third said: “Garraway was awful in her ability to get the best out of Omid. Piers is a proper journalist. Jeez is this the best ITV have got?”

While a fourth complained: “One of the worst interviewers out there. Her questions are all half a minute long.”
Not everyone was a critic though, with others having thoroughly enjoyed the most recent batch of episodes.
One wrote: “What a genuine man Omid is. An eye opener. Very interesting. So glad he's doing this.”
Another wrote: “I really enjoyed tonight’s Life Stories. Omid, what an interesting life he’s had and a nice guy to boot.”

And a third said: “Loving Kate Garraway’s Life Stories with Ruby Wax.”
