The Met Gala is always full of Hollywood's biggest celebrities, but it's not everyday that British TV stars grace the red carpet.
Which is why fans were both confused and delighted when they spotted the iconic Keeley Hawes at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Monday (6 May) night.

Keeley, 48 - who has starred in the likes of Bodyguard, Scoop, Line of Duty and The Durrells - looked beautiful in a strapless black and purple gown.
And fans were loving the TV icon's appearance at the event, with one writing on X: "Keeley Hawes at the Met Gala!! Love."
While another said: "KEELEY HAWES????? AT THE MET GALA?????? THEE KEELEY HAWES?"
Keeley attended the event with her husband, Matthew Macfadyen. The couple have been married for almost two decades and looked very loved-up as they walked the red carpet holding hands.

Matthew is an actor who has starred in the likes of Succession and Spooks.
Fans said the couple looked adorable, with one commenting: "The most beautiful thing I saw today. Keeley Hawes and Matthew Macfadyen on the red carpet of the met gala in New York."
While someone else said: "I love that they never forget to carry that quintessential British elegance with them wherever they go!"

Others were slightly baffled however, with another adding: "Keeley hawes at the met gala was so unexpected??"
And one user penned: "Not me about to say KEELEY HAWES??? The way I always forget she’s married to Matthew Macfadyen."
Elsewhere at Monday's Met Gala, fans said they had 'second-hand embarrassment' after watching singer, Tyla - who appeared to be wearing a dress sculpted to her body - be carried up the Met steps.

In footage and photos from the evening, Tyla's team had to pick her up and help her up the steps of the red carpet.
Tyla later explained that being carried was the 'only way' she would have been able to get up the steps, adding that it took 'hours' to create her look.
"So I'm basically wearing sand," she told reporters. "It was amazing working with Balmain, we really thought outside the box for this one which is really exciting.
"Pat McGrath did my makeup, she's legendary."

Although fans were totally captivated by the look, some claimed they had 'second hand embarrassment' over Tyla being transported up the steps.
One wrote: "Can we have like a planet wide meeting? cuz wtf are we doing?"
While another said: "I am gonna get hate but this is ridiculous."
And a third added: "Anyone else get secondhand embarrassment from this?"
