Lisa Kudrow clears up claim Jennifer Aniston made about her during her time on Friends

Phoebe Buffay actor Lisa Kudrow has had her say on her co-star's recent comments

Lisa Kudrow has set the record straight on an ‘irritating’ aspect of filming Friends following Jennifer Aniston’s recent remarks.

60-year-old Kudrow is best known for portraying the whimsical Phoebe Buffay on the long-running American sitcom alongside 55-year-old Aniston’s Rachel Green.

The ten-season show consisted of 236 episodes and followed a six-person collective living in the same Manhattan apartment building.

The pair, joined by David Schwimmer, 57, Courteney Cox, 60, Matt LeBlanc, 56, and the late Matthew Perry, 54, portrayed iconic characters who spent the series navigating their careers, getting entangled in love triangles and experiencing pivotal milestone moments such as marriage and childbirth.

Earlier this year, Aniston reflected on her time filming Friends with Kudrow and claimed that the Californian native had a pet hate when it came to filming the comedy.

Speaking to Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson during Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Aniston claimed that her Friends co-star ‘hated’ the audience laughing.

"Lisa Kudrow, by the way, hated when the audience laughed... She'd be like, 'I'm not done! It's not that funny!’” she recounted to Brunson, 34.

However, Kudrow has addressed this claim in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight.

The actor stated: “No, that’s not exactly... no, no. It irritated me if they would laugh for too long.”

"God bless them. They were so excited to be there that sometimes the laughter would just be longer than if they would have laughed at anything else," she continued.

"I was like, 'All right, well, take it easy. It’s not that funny. And there's more to say!'"

During 2021’s Friends reunion special, Kudrow admitted that she was ‘mortified’ by her performance in the NBC show and that she’d never had a desire to watch it back.

“There are seasons I’ve never seen,” she said. “Michel [Stern, Kudrow’s husband] and I started watching some of season four, which I thought I had watched.”

When asked by Perry if she ‘enjoyed’ watching the episodes back, Kudrow claimed: “He enjoys them more than I do ‘cause I’m mortified with myself.”

Following Kudrow’s exit from Friends, she has gone on to star in Netflix’s now-cancelled sci-fi comedy, Space Force, as well as make three appearances in the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

The actor's latest role is in Time Bandits - a forthcoming fantasy adventure series set to premiere on Apple TV+ on 24 July.

Kudrow will portray protagonist Penelope and is set to star alongside Taika Waititi, Jemaine Clement and Charlyne Yi.

Speaking about landing the role, she said: "Taika had gotten in touch with me and said, 'Jemaine and I wrote this thing, we're shooting in New Zealand. Would you ever consider doing that?' And, 'Yes! Like, why am I going to say no to you two?'”
