In-laws week on Married At First Sight UK kicked off with a bang after the episode left viewers stunned at one mum.
You may or may not remember the teaser clip in Nathan Campbell’s kitchen, where his new mother-in-law joined him and his wife Lacey Martin which was released before the episode on social media.
Unfortunately, when the scene was shown to viewers, fans were astonished to find that the mum was reduced to tears following an excruciating confrontation over her cooking.

The clip showed 24-year-old engineer Nathan with his 27-year-old office manager wife, Lacey talking about the meal in front of them, before the groom makes an abrupt joke about the food.
However, as Lacey’s mum is the one who largely prepared it, she began to cry at his criticism.
But upon the episode airing, some much-needed context was given, and fans are staunchly on Nathan’s side.

What wasn’t shown in the clip was the Nathan is actually a vegetarian, who had his wife and MIL over to his place for a spot of dinner.
Even though he doesn’t eat meat, his mother-in-law brought over ingredients to make chicken fajitas as it’s one of her favourite meals.
What ensued was Nathan then being asked if he would help to prepare the chicken, something which he seemed to be uncomfortable about, even though he did comply in the end.
Fans who saw the whole scene were left baffled at the mother, who went on the cry after Nathan joked about the food looking unappetising to him (a veggie).

On Twitter, viewers let loose, and they didn't hold back.
One person wrote: “To be fair to Nathan - most vegetarians wouldn’t cut chicken up - not even for their girlfriend’s Mum. Lacey’s mum is just being awkward as f**k and just trying to find fault in him. Although ‘I’ll just bring a meal deal LOL’ I love him.”
Someone else said: “This may be an unpopular opinion, but as a vegetarian too, I don't think Nathan should be expected to prepare chicken in his kitchen for the mother in law. Plus, she's making a big deal about it like it's 1980.”

Another commented: “‘Am I gonna be doing everything in this kitchen?’ I guess so. Nathan’s vegetarian and YOU brought chicken fajita’s to make because it’s YOUR favourite meal.”
“Bit disrespectful asking nathan to even be in the kitchen if he feels uncomfortable around the meat cooking...if it was me id have made it a veggie dish to prove the effort goes both ways,” a viewer stated while one person wrote: “Why hasn't Lacey's mom been told Nathan is a vegetarian, how disrectful is that!”
Elsewhere in the episode, Lacey's mum gave him a good grilling, as the narrator explained: "The experiment's original couples face tough questions from their nearest and dearest."
She asked: "Do you love Lacey? What do you see happening? You don't want anyone else?

"Look at me in the eyes and say, 'I want it to work with Lacey'."
It was all quite the uncomfortable experience for Nathan it seems...
