Married At First Sight UK viewers have been left utterly shocked after a mother-in-law's 'overreaction' to a groom’s joke about her food.
This week has been a juicy one indeed for Channel 4 viewers - what with the explosive dinner party on Tuesday, the shocking commitment ceremony on Wednesday and now the painfully awkward 'meet the family' segment which aired last night (3 October).
For those out of the loop, 24-year-old engineer Nathan has been paired up with 27-year-old office manager Lacey Martin since the show returned to screens last month.
And - compared to many other couples - their relationship has remained pretty smooth-sailing, until last night.

We watched on as Nathan met his bride Lacey's mother - who Lacey pre-warned to not engage in any 'banter' with.
However, it seems like Nathan ignored his bride's warning and made a light-hearted joke anyway unknowingly landing him in pretty deep waters with his new in-law.
Now, Lacey's mum was cooking the pair a meal - chicken fajitas - when she asked Nathan to chop up the meat.
On account of him being a vegetarian, the groom politely declined prompting Lacey's mum to reveal she'd 'never met' one before.

She later segued into questioning Nathan on his motives with her daughter.
After the meal, which Nathan didn't eat, he made a joke about the food being bad which led to quite the reaction with Lacey's mum.
She broke down in tears and called her son-in-law 'rude' and MAFS UK viewers have not taken her reaction lightly.

One X user hit out: "For goodness sake you just cooked a meal for him which he can’t eat, you gave your honest opinion to Lacey about him whilst he was AT THE TABLE, he makes one joke and now you’re crying??"
"Imaging crying because a vegetarian told you they think chicken fajitas are disgusting, Lacey’s mum needs to grow a funny bone. How can you go through life that sensitive," slammed a second.
A third piped up: "Why is this grown woman crying over a joke about some packet made fajitas?"

"He didn’t even eat the chicken so you know it’s a joke!!! What a stupid woman," exclaimed another.
And a final X user echoed: "Crying over a packet mix fajita? Babes it’s not that deep."
