With the cold winter nights upon us, it often feels like ALL we want to do is curl up on the sofa and watch films, ideally with a bottle of wine and a takeaway.

The only thing is, with such a dedicated period of movie viewing, you soon run out of films you really want to watch and end up scrolling endlessly through streaming sites before settling on The Holiday for the fifth time this month.
But Netflix and Sky viewers are raving about a brand new flick that was released recently and may have fallen under the radar amid all the classics you’ve been working through.
Starring Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore and Charles Melton and directed by Todd Haynes, May December follows a couple with a 23-year age gap whose story is being turned into a Hollywood film.

A synopsis says: “May December follows married couple Gracie and Joe Atherton-Yoo (Julianne Moore and Charles Melton) whose 23-year age gap sparked a notorious tabloid romance that gripped the nation two decades ago.
“Cut to modern day, and their marriage comes under renewed strain when Hollywood actress Elizabeth Berry (Natalie Portman) comes to spend time with the family to better understand Gracie, who she will be playing in a film about the scandal.”
The film, which is currently available to watch on Netflix in the US and Sky Cinema/NOW in the UK, has already garnered a strong reaction online among viewers, many of whom reckon it’s the best thing they’ve seen this year – or even ‘ever’.
“May December was incredible,” one tweeted.

The critics agree, too, as the movie has a very respectable score of 92 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
Portman said she felt 'excited' by the gig, telling Netflix's official fan site Tudum: “I was excited to explore an actress.
“I've never really played an actress, and, of course, it's something I have insight into by being one myself for a long time.
"It's interesting to me the kind of performance that people create in their own lives that is akin to acting.”
