New Harry Potter series launches casting call for Harry, Ron and Hermione roles

The HBO adaptation will cover all seven Harry Potter books

HBO are creating an original Harry Potter series and they've just announced a very exciting casting call.

A post from the official Harry Potter account reads: "The search for the next Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger is underway! An open casting call for residents of the UK and Ireland has been announced for the new HBO original series Harry Potter."

The HBO adaptation advertisement confirmed it will only be able to accept child applicants aged between 9-11 in April 2025, and who are based in the UK or Ireland.

It was announced on 25 June that the series had moved from Warner Bros. Discovery to HBO.

The series will be based on all seven Harry Potter books written by J. K. Rowling.

As per Deadline, Chairman and CEO, HBO & Max Content, Casey Bloys, promised a 'faithful adaptation'.

He said: “This new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years."

He added that the adaptation was being done 'with the full care and craft of this franchise'.
