Liv Tyler has opened up about the 'shock' she experienced when she learnt Aerosmith legend Steven Tyler was her dad.
Actress Liv Tyler was born in 1977 and raised by her mum, Bebe Buell, and musician Todd Rundgren, whom Buell dated between 1972 and 1978.
For the first decade of her life, Liv believed that Rundgren was her father.

It wasn't until she attended an Aerosmith concert with her mum when she was '11 or 12' that she learnt this wasn't the case.
Speaking on an episode of Kate Hudson's Sibling Revelry podcast which aired last Sunday (13 April), Liv recalled the moment she realised something was up.

During the concert, Buell started crying.

"I looked at my mom, and I was like, 'Mom?' And she just started crying. My mom just, like, balled. And I was like, 'Is Steven my dad?' And she just burst [into tears]," she said.
"And then she took me to a bench and we sat on a bench at this outdoor amphitheater and she told me the whole story in the most sincere, beautiful way."
Liv admits that after learning that the 'I Don't Want to Miss a Thing' singer was her dad, the 'first wave was shock.'
"After that concert, we went home and my mom had a chaise lounge in front of a window and I remember sitting there for what felt like three days, but it was probably three hours, and just basically coming to this conclusion at the end of 'Whoa, I have two dads and all this love. Maybe there’ll be two Christmases,'" she recalled.

But she wasn't the only person to receive shocking news that evening. Her half-sister Mia Tyler - who appeared on the podcast alongside Liv - was also at the event.
The young girls met each other for the first time backstage later that evening.
"We went backstage after the show and then there was Mia. We met for the first time, and I remember someone asking if we were sisters, but we didn’t know," Liv told Hudson.

Once they learnt that they were related, the Tyler sisters stayed in touch, sending postcards to each other and later meeting up in New York City.

Liv also opened up about her relationship with Rundgren.
She said: "It's probably still very hard and painful and I don't speak to him enough. I love him. I have brothers from him and I had a whole family with them. He took care of me like he was [my] dad.

"As the story goes, [my mom] called Todd and said she was pregnant and he asked her to come home to where they lived in Woodstock in upstate New York.
"He very courageously and lovingly said, 'This child needs a father, and I will be the father.'"
