Dust off your tiaras... we're going back to Genovia!
Yep, Anne Hathaway has announced that Princess Diaries 3 is officially in the works at Disney, and fans are well and truly losing their minds.
More than two decades since we saw Mia Thermopolis' iconic transformation, Hathaway has said 'miracles happen' as she confirmed we're being swept back to Genovia for a third outing.

It comes two years after rumours first started swirling about a third film in the franchise, with Crazy Rich Asians' Adele Lim set to be at the helm.
“As a diehard fan of the original Princess Diaries, I’m beyond excited to be a part of bringing the third iteration of this beloved franchise to life,” Lim said in a statement.
“We look forward to celebrating its core tenants of female power, joy and mentorship with audiences worldwide.”

And now, Princess Mia herself has confirmed the news in a video on Instagram along with the caption: "Miracles happen ✨👑 Back to Genovia with @adeleblim @disney @somewherepictures. The fairy tale continues ❤️🔥."
Safe to say fans cannot wait to see the down-to-earth royalty back on their screens again, with one writing: "i’m seated. quite frankly i’ve never been more sat!!!"
Another commented: "NOOOOOOOO F*ING WAAAAAAAAAYYY," as a third admitted: "I screamed so loud"
Producing the film is Debra Martin Chase who worked on the original 2001 flick which plummeted Hathaway to stardom.

Not that you need reminding, but the OG follows shy teen Mia who gets the shock of her life after a visit from her estranged grandmother, Queen Clarisse Renaldi (played by Julie Andrews) who informs her she's actually the princess of a small European state.
The film is a go-to comfort flick for a lot of us, and proved so popular at the time that it spawned a sequel in 2004 with both Hathaway and Andrews returning to their regal roles.
There are currently no details on what we can expect plot-wise from Princess Diaries 3, though Variety reports that it's set to be a follow-up to the stories told in the first two movies instead of being a reboot.

Last year, Hathaway hinted at her return, telling V Magazine: "We’re in a good place. There’s nothing to announce yet. But we’re in a good place."
As for Queen Clarisse, when asked about potentially reprising her role earlier this year, Andrews told Today: "It’s quite a long time now since the two Diaries were done, and I’m not sure, but sometimes it’s best to leave a good thing alone.
"I don’t like it when people milk and milk and milk the subject, you know, till it’s dead."

Don't panic through, as she did also add: "I’d be very happy if we did do another one."
Here's hoping Queen Clarisse hasn't bid goodbye to Genovia just yet, then.
