Truth behind why Mormons ‘look the same’ revealed as new Mormon Wives show leaves viewers struggling to keep up

The new reality show following the lives of Mormon influencers has viewers totally hooked

It has been revealed exactly why some people think those of the Mormon faith look alike, following the premiere of a new reality show.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives debuted earlier this month on Hulu and viewers have been completely hooked.

The no holds barred reality series follows a group of Mormon women who also happen to be influencers caught up in a ‘swinging’ sex scandal.

One of those women is Taylor Frankie Paul, who used to be married to Tate Paul. The two lived in Draper, Utah.

Two years ago, she admitted to her online audience that she and Tate were headed for divorce and claimed they had dabbled in ‘soft swinging’.

It’s thought that Taylor and Tate, as well as other parents in the Salt Lake City area, had been romantically intimate with each another once upon a time.

During a TikTok live, Taylor stated: “No one is innocent, everyone has hooked up with everyone."

However, People reports that she claimed the ‘majority’ were not involved in the practice.

It's the perfect recipe for some reality TV drama.

Aside from the piping hot tea, viewers have been transfixed by the women all sharing a very similar look.

One person wrote on X: "I need the cast of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives to wear name tags please, these women all look the same."

Another added: "People saying all Utah women look the same & I genuinely didn’t understand until I started watching the secret lives of mormon wives. I genuinely cannot tell the difference between a majority of these women."

It turns out there's been entire research studies dedicated to this - and we started digging to find out why.

Psychology professor Nicholas Rule, of Toronto University, conducted a study that found that: "Mormons and non-Mormons significantly differed in perceived health and that these perceptions were related to perceptions of skin quality, as demonstrated in a structural equation model representing the contributions of skin colour and skin texture."

According to The Daily Universe, the professor coined this as the 'Mormon glow'.

But he's not the only person who's had a say.

Former mormon Alyssa Grenfell, who left the church in 2017, took to her YouTube channel to give her take.

She claimed it's mainly due to a 'small gene pool'.

Alyssa explained: "Have you ever wondered why some people 'look Mormon'? Mormons really only marry other Mormons.

“You can’t marry in a Mormon temple unless it’s two Mormons getting married, this in large part has made it so that the gene pool is actually very small - especially in a place like Utah, where Mormons fled and went to Utah to be able to practice polygamy in peace.

"Those Mormons were only making babies with other Mormons for a very long time, and the only opportunity to make the gene pool a little larger is to convert people."

Alyssa also pointed towards Mormons' purported friendliness.

"I think another reason for this is the Mormon vibe which is often super, hyper friendly, almost too friendly," she added.

“Mormons are taught to proselytize and share their religion... I think that Mormon culture is very copycat.”
