As you mature into an adult and bid adieu to your bratty teenager behaviour, forming a close relationship with your mother can be one of life's most beautiful things.
That said, however, one TV star is taking the phrase 'mother-daughter bond' to a rather controversial level, after admitting she and her mum take showers together.
I know, imagine you're enjoying your 'everything shower', shaving head-to-toe for a night out... only for your mum to tell you that you've missed a spot.

Anyway, such is the reality for TLC stars Mary and Brittani, who - following their controversial admission on their show sMothered - have hit headlines around the world.
Apparently, however, the act of washing together has brought the Florida duo closer than ever, and they credit this process for aiding in consolidating their loving relationship.
In a preview clip from the bizarre episode that saw the confessional made, the two women can be seen in the shower together, with Mary standing behind her daughter.

And if they seem pretty comfortable in each other's presence, it's because they've been showering together for years, with Mary saying: "I have been taking showers and helping Brittani since she was five."
Look, we aren't saying don't help your literal baby clean themselves, but as soon as that kid hits secondary school, leave them to it.
Still, that's not how Mary took it as she steps into the shower, she can be heard telling her daughter to 'move over baby' then as the water hits her, she says: "Ah, that feels so good."

The mum then starts to wash the 19-year-old's hair, telling her: "You need to tan or something, honey. You're so white."
And Mary couldn't think of a better way to wash, adding: "The best way to start our day is in the shower."
We thought the best way to start the day was with a big breakfast but, hey, each to their own.
Mary is also quick to hit back at those who think her relationship with her daughter is weird.

"I love her, and I don't see anything wrong with it. I don't believe I set out to have a relationship this close to Brittani, it's something that was supposed to be," the mum explained.
Brittani chimed in to say: "When my mom does simple things like washing my hair or my body, it makes me feel comforted.
"Plus, I'm only 19, I haven't moved away. If that was the case, she would probably die from separation anxiety."

If that wasn't enough to convince people of their morning routine, Mary told the New York Post that she started showering with her daughter because Brittani was having panic attacks, which they thought might've been brought on by hot water.
And, actually, that does make it seem a little more understandable.
