There's a brand-new thriller that's just hit cinemas and fans are calling it one of their 'favourites of the year'.

The film, boasting a star-studded cast including the likes of James McAvoy, Mackenzie Davis, Aisling Franciosi and Scott McNairy, came out just last week (12 September) and it's already being hailed as one of the best thrillers, with some viewers even feeling 'physically sick' with anxiety after watching it.

The flick in question is actually a remake of the 2022 Danish film of the same name and has already received a more than decent 85% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The plot follows an American family who are invited to stay at a remote farmhouse of a British couple for the weekend.

However, a situation that once seemed idyllic then takes a turn for the worst after the hosts began to test the limits of their guests as the situation escalates.

Opening up on his role and the toxic masculinity which rests at the very centre of the film, McAvoy told BBC: "It seems to be OK to be more extreme, to be more fundamental, to be less nuanced, to be less compromising."

The actor called the misogynistic radicalisation of boys and young women as 'quite terrifying' adding: "It's no surprise that it's happening within the conversation of masculinity.

"I do think that there's a malaise happening across society. People are looking for answers, and sometimes uncompromising, unapologetic, strong-appearing people are easy to gravitate towards."

The film is, of course, Speak No Evil and you can check out the official trailer for it here:

Fans of the flick have since rushed to social media to share their praise with one X user writing: "Felt physically sick with anxiety watching Speak No Evil in the best possible way. *That's* how you do psychological horror."

"What if I said… I prefer the #SpeakNoEvil remake to the original?" penned a second. "A proper sweaty-palm thriller with James McAvoy at his nastiest and best. One of my faves of the year."

A third piped up: "Speak No Evil is possibly the most tense & uncomfortable thriller I’ve ever watched absolutely horrifying but incredible."

"Just saw Speak No Evil and it was genuinely one of the best thriller films I’ve ever seen," confessed a fourth.

A fifth hit out: "Ok I just watched Speak No Evil and what the f*ck? I have never been so socially uncomfortable. A horror movie long before anything horror movie-esque ."

"Holy cr*p Speak No Evil is both disturbing and uncomfortable but I love it! A psychological horror movie that really dials up the tension as this slow burn delivers a new take on psychological horror with a pretty disturbing ending," echoed a final X user.

Well, I know what I'll be seeing in the cinema this week!

Speak No Evil is currently available to watch in selected cinemas.
