Air fryer users are being issued an urgent warning after a photo of horrific ‘burn’ marks highlighted one thing you should never do.
Air fryers are something of a 21st-century revelation, providing the solution to many kitchen problems - from creating the means for healthier fried food to helping people get a meal on the table much more quickly.
But there are, of course, downsides to the nifty kitchen gadgets, meaning you often need to tread carefully.

One person recently took to Reddit to share their blunder, explaining how it may have left them with a very ‘hefty sum’ to cough up.
“Me and my college roommate are in a real bind,” the renter wrote a few month back, asking for ‘urgent help’.
“We accidentally caused some air fryer stains on the marble wall in our kitchen, and we have to move out by lease end tonight!

“The landlord has seen the stains and is threatening to charge a hefty sum if we don’t get them cleaned up ASAP.”
They added: “Does anyone have any effective tips or tricks for removing these kinds of stains from marble without causing damage? We need a solution that works quickly and efficiently. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.”
The accompanying picture shows the air fryer pulled out from its space underneath an overheard kitchen cabinet, with a huge brown stain clearly visible on the wall behind.
One person replied: “It's burnt. You're not fixing that on your own today.”

Someone else agreed: “It’s not only the backspace even the cabinet/wall adjoining the backsplash has burn marks.”
A third wrote: “That looks damaged not stained imo.”
A fourth added: “Maybe if you’re lucky it’s a grease stain, but it looks more like heat damage from having the air fryer too close to the backsplash. If it’s grease, something like Dawn Powerwash might help, but if it’s heat damage, it’s likely going to need professional repair.”

Many pointed out that the material was unlikely to be marble as it tends to be more heat resistant than whatever has been used instead.
Either way, the tenant was left with a tricky situation on their hands, as others stressed the importance of where you place your air fryer.

“I didn't put mine under cabinet for this very reason,” one advised, adding: “It's in a more open air accessible area.”
Another echoed: “It's burnt, there's no fixing this. You'll lose whatever portion of the deposit the landlord determines it costs to replace it.
“Please learn a lesson from this and pull your airfryer put AWAY from walls and cabinets before use. They need ventilation room.”
