Tickets booked, you’ve planned your journey to the airport and you've checked approximately 250 times if your passport hasn't mysteriously grown legs and walked off. Only one question remains, what on Earth should you wear on the flight?
If you’re someone who struggles when picking an outfit for a flight, a savvy traveller on TikTok has revealed why she specifically wears a hoodie — and it's not due to style concerns.
In a short video, which now has 1.6M views, Peyton Reese Nelson posted a video explaining why she's now 'never not travelling in a hoodie'.

But what’s so special about this garment, you ask? As Peyton filmed herself sitting in a plane seat and lifting the hood over her head, an in-video caption says: “Saw a TikTok once of a girl saying she always wears a hoodie on the plane so her hair doesn’t touch the seat and I will never forget it.”
Plane seats, including seat pockets and trays, are often very dirty because of all the people who use them, despite airlines cleaning them regularly.
Travel tour operator Ski Vertigo previously said: “Given their multifunctional use and the fact that cleaning crews often have limited time between flights, tray tables may not receive a thorough cleaning, leading to a significant build-up of bacteria and viruses.

"This makes them a prime location for the transmission of illnesses."
Peyton was inundated with comments from fellow frequent flyers who said they also cover their hair on flights.
“Wait I always wear hoodies and long pants on planes for this exact reason,” said one TikToker.

Peyton replied: “Oh yeah I always wore at least a crewneck and leggings, but now I can’t not wear a hoodie lol.”
Someone else wrote: “Anywhere my hair will touch I do this. Planes, movie theatres, etc.”
And someone who purported to be a flight attendant co-signed the hack, writing: “As a flight attendant, yes. Also do not ever wear clothing that exposes your skin to the seats. Long pans and long skirt. Keep hand sanitiser with you always.”

Similarly, an expert from Ski Vertigo urged travellers to change out of the clothes they wear on flights.
"For longer flights, consider packing a small 'hygiene kit' that includes face masks, hand sanitiser, disinfectant wipes, and even a spare set of clothes in your carry-on.
"Changing clothes after a long flight can help you feel refreshed and reduce the likelihood of transferring germs from the plane to your final destination."
We’ll definitely keep this in mind next time!
