A mum-of-two is standing by her decision, after declaring on national television that she owned a pair of jeans she hasn't washed in 18 years.
Just think - that same pair of jeans has been around through the arrival of a child, their first steps, first day at school, teenage tantrums and sending them off to uni.

A lot can happen in two decades, but for author and children's entertainer Sandra Wallis, washing one particular pair of jeans just didn't make the 'to do' list.
Sandra first made the admission about her jeans during an appearance on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch, where the cast were discussing how regularly you should wash your jeans.
Everyone has their own opinion on this question, with many taking to Twitter to share their own thoughts.
One person went for the most obvious answer, writing: "When it's dirty, I wash it," though another revealed they have a strict routine as they wrote: "Wear twice and wash."

Other jeans-fans suggested they should go through the machine 'once in six months' or even 'everyday'.
Over on Steph's Packed Lunch, one person on the show recommended washing every '20 wears'.
At that point, however, the camera cut to Sandra in her jeans as she admitted, "I've never washed them. 18 years."

Footage of the scene quickly went viral after it was shared online, wracking up thousands of likes and mixed responses on TikTok. Regardless of what people think about her jeans, Sandra still hasn't stuck them in the wash.
"I get comments like, ‘that’s disgusting, gross and grim’ and I’m a tramp apparently – but the jeans haven’t got a single mark on them and they don’t smell, so it just makes me laugh," she told Fabulous.
Sandra cast her mind back to when she first purchased the jeans from Marks & Spencer saying: "I’ve had the jeans for 18 years and I know that because I bought them just after my daughter Liberty was born in 2004 [...]
"I bought them with the intention of having them for a long time – but obviously didn’t think it would be this long."

Now for the question I'm sure you're all asking: don't the jeans smell? Well, it turns out Sandra doesn't wear the jeans too often - and it helps that she's very clean.
She explained: “I only wear them once a year and I can’t get rid of them because they still look brand new. But I do the smell test and, to be fair, I must be a very clean person as they don’t smell.”
After hanging in her wardrobe for nearly two decades, Sandra praised the jeans as being a 'good pair of jeans on a budget'.

With their 20th birthday coming up, Sandra is planning to stay true to her routine, saying: “I won’t be washing them unless I feel like they need to be washed."
