A couple who are 'addicted' to drinking their own urine say it 'almost feels like a drug' after revealing the alleged 'surprising' benefits.
Nick and Aubrey, a couple who featured on TLC's My Strange Addiction, have branded themselves 'natural lifestyle enthusiasts'.
And while this sounds like a pretty organic way to live, it entails a lot more than eating your greens and growing veg in your garden.

The couple claim to be 'addicted' to drinking 'gallons' of their own wee, with Nick revealing that he hasn't drank water 'for years'.
And while you might assume the two were brought up this way, their families aren't exactly in total approval of their alternative lifestyle.
On the show, Nick's mum says: "Never in a million years would I think that I would have a son that would be drinking his own urine."

But it doesn't stop there - the couple also bathe in each other's urine.
The first clip in the episode shows the couple sitting down at the table, having a meal with some Nick's family.
He downed a glass of his own urine after saying: "I've got to wash this burger down with something."
But aside from drinking their own, erm, produce, the lifestyle comes with many more requirements.

Nick outlined: "I sleep on the ground, I surf, jump off high things into water."
On average, he estimated that he drinks around half a gallon of 'fresh urine' per day.
The couple even claimed that their strange habit had health benefits, which goes against what the experts actually say.

In the episode, Nick explained: "The main benefits that I would describe for drinking your urine are hydration.
"Number two that I noticed was severely improved digestion.
"The third one is retaining nutrients.
"Most of the nutrients from the food that you eat are coming out in your urine and they're not actually going into your body."

But according to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, drinking your own pee can actually be quite a damaging thing to do.
The experts say: "Because urine contains waste products, drinking it can force your kidneys to work even harder or expose you to unnecessary toxins.
"This could cause illness, electrolyte disturbances, or kidney damage."
Contrary to what Nick claims, they added: "The salt content of urine also means drinking it could cause dehydration."
Talking about how they met, Aubrey claimed that she found Nick on social media.
She said: "So I first found Nick on social media before we became friends, I slid into Nick's DMS.
"And invited him to come stay with me and just hit it off.
"I was drinking urine for about five months before I met him when we first met.
"We actually didn't even eat food.
"It was like so natural to not eat and just drink pee.
"I drank Nick's urine."
Each to their own!
