What would you think the sex life between a woman in her 30s and a man in his 60s would entail?
Well, according to one woman in a 27-year age gap with her husband, it actually ‘upset’ her.
Gretchen Dillon, 36, from New York, met Michael Dillon, 63, in a grocery store in 2014 and struck up a friendship.

As she previously dated women before meeting Michael, this friendship was nothing but innocent at the beginning.
But that all changed in 2015 when the pair realised that they had romantic feelings towards each other.
It wasn’t long before the couple tied the knot in 2018 and expanded their family with a baby boy who is now under a year old.

However, it wasn’t smooth sailing as Gretchen found that others would constantly mistake her husband as her dad.
She said: “My friend tried to stop me marrying him. She kept saying I was going to be a widow because he's nearly 30 years older than me, but I loved him and didn't care.
She described how their first intimate moment left her upset due to her own confusion about whether this was what she wanted in life.
Gretchen said: “I was upset when Michael and I first slept together because in my head I didn’t think I wanted to be with an older man. I took some time and came to terms with it."

Though she now insists they're 'happier than ever', the pair had to go through more issues when she turned down Michael’s first proposal.
Gretchen said that she didn’t want to make a fuss of it and that she ‘didn’t want a big show and I didn’t want a ring’.
But Michael had other plans and gifted her ‘a literal diamond rock, not on a ring’ to undercut her stipulation about a ring.
That’s when she turned him down in front of his family, which led to her crying for the entire day afterwards.

Thankfully, the pair rekindled, and he went on to propose again in December ‘on a sunrise kayaking trip in Florida' which Gretchen accepted.
After friends tried to warn Gretchen about the possibility of becoming a widow due to Michael’s age, she swiftly ‘cut her out of my life’ to preserve her happiness and didn’t regret her choice.
The loved-up couple then decided to have a child in 2021 named Shannon, but people often mistake his father for his grandfather.

The pair laugh off those comments without a care.
Gretchen said: “Michael couldn't wait to be a father again - he already has one child and another stepchild from a previous relationship - and I think his age makes him a better father.
“He can't be as physically active, but he still loves monkeying around with little Shannon. But he's more like a grandad because he has so much more patience.”
Michael added: “People think I’m Shannon’s grandad all the time but I just laugh it off.”
The couple then found out they would be having a second child together on Christmas Day in 2022 who was born in August.
The pair named him Galen.
If any naysayers have something to say about the couple, Gretchen claims that she ‘would tell any woman in my position that life is too short to be unhappy. If something feels right in your gut - go for it’ and that the ‘age difference is tremendously helpful in the success of our relationship.'
