We're two days day into October, which means millions of drinkers around the world have quit boozing in a bid to focus on their health for one solid month.
As well as improving their general wellbeing, however, many who take part in Sober October are hoping to see one particular side effect of rejecting a tipple for an entire month, after several people who took up the challenge in previous years raved about the drastic improvement that the trend made to their life.
What is Sober October?
Sober October is a challenge from Macmillan Cancer Support, where people are encouraged to quit booze for the month to raise money for the charity, or just for their own health.

And according to statistics, more and more individuals are ditching alcohol for good.
Why are so many people quitting drinking?
As we say, it isn't just Sober October or its sister Dry January which have seen countless drinkers cutting down on their alcohol intake.
Some believe the dramatic reduction in recorded alcohol intake could be down to the countless social media users who've recently gone sober and have since attempted to preach the benefits of bidding a final adieu to 'hangxiety'.

What are the effects of cutting down your alcohol in-take?
As we say, there are several side effects of quitting alcohol - some more obvious than others.
As well as seeing a reduction to their mental health woes - particularly anxiety-related frustration - some Sober October candidates have taken to Reddit, where they claimed to have seen a huge reduction in their professional stress.

Some admitted they've been spending significantly less money by only purchasing 0 percent beverages or soft drinks, while others boasted about feeling considerably less aches and pains after going sober.
And weight loss is often described as a common side effect of alcohol reduction.
The most unexpected side effect
It isn't just psychological and health-related benefits of Sober October that people have been raving about recently, however.

In fact, several people who took part claimed that cutting out booze triggered a staggering change to their facial appearance.
"My wife and I shed our round faces. Such a transformation!" one penned online.
"I am now walking 3 miles a day, 6 days a week too. We are both heading to our middle school weight!"

Another went on to explain: "Only one month in and my skin is more even - the redness on my nose and cheeks is almost gone and I don’t have the dark circles under my eyes.
"I also lost that clamminess that carried on throughout the day. Basically I don’t look sick and tired like I did before."
A third continued: "Thinner face, brighter eyes, better skin, all sorts of changes in my face when I don’t drink. I can usually tell in photos if I was in a sober stretch or not just by how I look."
