Surprising feature that 'completely changes' if you decide to quit alcohol

Surprising feature that 'completely changes' if you decide to quit alcohol

This Alcohol Awareness Week, more and more drinkers are learning about the unexpected consequences of the sober life

The last few years has seen a huge surge in drinkers - particularly those in their 20s and 30s - turning their backs on the booze for good.

And as a result, many tee-total newbies are noticing a rather unexpected series have been made to the way they live their lives.

As such, the dramatic reduction in recorded alcohol intake in recent years has been attributed by countless experts to an even larger roster of potential social factors, with many under the impression that social media has hugely swayed peoples' views on drinking culture.

By looking at TikTok alone, for example, users will come across countless influencers who have used their online platforms to have admit that what was once considered a vital aspect to a fun-fuelled night out is now viewed as a 'hangxiety-related' detriment to their mental health.

Countless non-drinkers have also been taking to internet this Alcohol Awareness Week (1-7 July) to spread the word on the multitude of ways their lives, health and - surprisingly - appearance have changed since binning off the booze.

Taking to the online discussion site Reddit, many alcohol-abstainers revealed that they'd enjoyed a colossal decrease in their bouts of anxiety since going sober.

Others admitted that they've been spending significantly less money by only purchasing 0 percent beverages or soft drinks when socialising with friends.

Hundreds of non-drinkers also claimed they'd been sleeping significantly better since quitting drinking, and were notably less stressed in their professional life.

Significant reductions in both shaking and sweating were also mentioned by many, whilst others boasted about feeling considerably less aches and pains after going sober.

As well as these physical and psychological benefits of the sober life, many non-drinkers also took to the forum this week to reveal that they'd experienced a staggering change to their facial appearance since ditching alcohol.

"My wife and I shed our round faces. Such a transformation!" one penned online.

"I am now walking 3 miles a day, 6 days a week too. We are both heading to our middle school weight!"

Another went on to explain: "Only one month in and my skin is more even - the redness on my nose and cheeks is almost gone and I don’t have the dark circles under my eyes.

"I also lost that clamminess that carried on throughout the day. Basically I don’t look sick and tired like I did before."

A third continued: "Thinner face, brighter eyes, better skin, all sorts of changes in my face when I don’t drink. I can usually tell in photos if I was in a sober stretch or not just by how I look".

Basically, we need to throw out our gua shas and simply cut down our alcohol intake to bag the snatched jawline we've always wanted. Who knew?
