We live in an age of hustle culture where people are expected to go above and beyond at work.
However, as we should all know, it's crucial that people have a work-life balance, which is why this woman decided to block her boss' number after he contacted her one too many times outside work.
Taking to TikTok, Vanessa, who typically uses the platform to share videos about personal finance, small business and careers, explained that she has two mobile phones in a bid to keep her work and personal lives separate.

This comes at a cost for the Canadian too - namely, CA $45-a-month (£27) for the second phone.
She said that while her boss 'knows not to text [her] personal number', this is a boundary that he has violated and he 'still does sometimes'.
While this was clearly something that the TikTok user was willing to tolerate for a while, at least, the final straw came on a sick day.
She said: "I just blocked my boss so he couldn't contact me while I wasn't at work.

"I'm at home, sick from work today and for some reason, he felt the need to text me about work tasks.
"So today I blocked him."
Vanessa then ended the now-viral TikTok by making a thumbs up and overlaying the video with a caption that read 'life hacks'.

Unsurprisingly, the video has gone far from unnoticed since it was posted a week ago and at the time of writing, and has been liked by over 78K TikTok users.
Weighing in on Vanessa's actions, one TikToker praised: "I don't blame you, he's not your friend and you're not working."
Another shared that workers in Ontario, Canada, were last year given the legal right to disconnect, with companies being forced to have written policies in place about off-the-clock work calls and emails.
This prompted Vanessa to hope that this law will soon be a nation-wide policy.

"Girl, all of mine are blocked because they don't respect anyone's boundaries," shared a third. "Love to see it!"
"Boundaries are good!!!" exclaimed a fourth while a fifth wrote: "That's why my boss doesn't have my private phone number."
Elsewhere in the comments section, Vanessa revealed that her company doesn't even have an HR department to help her address the issue.

A sixth suggested a potential solution if she is made to unblock her boss, writing: "Just redirect all of his messages to your work phone."
When questioned about why she was paying for a second phone herself, Vanessa said she was told the cost had been worked into her salary.
But she did admit that most people at the company 'use their personal cell phones as work ones'.
What do you think of Vanessa's actions? Would you ever block your boss?
