There's nothing quite like a trip to the cinema and even though there's so much content now online, it always feels pretty special.
So naturally, cinemagoers across the UK were left pretty gutted when rumours emerged this week that one of the leading cinema chains, Cineworld, could be closing some of its venues.
Are Cineworld venues closing?
Sky News has reported that the cinema giant is considering closing around a quarter of its 100 venues across the country.

The chain is also responsible for a further 25 Picturehouse cinemas.
Apparently, the company wants to negotiate rental prices at some of its other venues, while around 25 more are said to be remaining untouched.
According to the publication, proposals are set to be more formally outlined over the next few weeks.
If the closures do go ahead, it's not entirely clear what will happen, but one suggestion is that other leading cinema giants could take over if an agreement cannot be reached, although this has not been confirmed.
Which venues have closed recently?
Two venues in the UK have already closed over the last few years, in Runcorn and Bristol.

The closures came after the company filed for bankruptcy protection in the US in September 2022.
