Millennials have recognised their musical 'bad behaviour’ and are now feeling sorry for themselves online.
Okay, so we all know it’s 2024 now, and as time moves on, so does pop culture, music genres, and band popularity.
But Millennials who have been holding onto their 2000s tastes have had a rude awakening.

When an Instagram user burst their bubbles by sharing a meme, everyone just about lost their sh*t.
It’s long been known that Gen Z doesn’t vibe with noughties music, particularly pop punk, and now we know why.
Imagine this: You’re a teenager in your parent’s house and suddenly, the radio begins to play a song from the 80s.

It’s vintage, right? Some type of cringe song that’s not current, but is oddly catchy.
Millennials have now admitted that their thoughts about the 80s was bad after the same thing has happened to them.
Amped Magazine UK posted a video on Instagram of a middle-aged man finding out that the 2000s to Gen Z is what the 80s is to Millennials.
It read: “Realising 2000s songs are now as old as 80s songs were in the 2000s.”

It’s safe to say that the hard truth has ruffled some feathers.
One person wrote: “Impossible, the 90s were 10 years ago.”
Another said: “If 2024 Marty Mcfly wanted to see his parents in high school, he would travel to 1955. He’d travel to 1994…”
Someone else commented: “We can go into bars now and nobody will change the juke box if someone puts a taking back Sunday jam.”

A fourth added: “Once you hear your high school music in the grocery store it's all over.”
But one person encapsulated all of the shame of being a Millennial teen who talked about the 80s songs as though it was a lifetime ago.
They wrote: “I now know how my parents felt and I’m ashamed for my behavior.”

As we’re now 24 years from 2000, surely our teen angst music is now a collection of ancient artifacts with tons of lore and history?
We’re obviously not including My Chemical Romance in this list, as Gerard Way and the band have finally reunited after 12 long years, but Taking Back Sunday, Never Shout Never, All American Rejects, Breaking Benjamin, Evanescence…(you get the point) are all officially old.
Hold on. Is early Linkin Park officially old too? Jesus.
Sugababes, Girls Aloud, Liberty X...there are so many noughties sensations.
Basically, what goes around, comes around (yes, even you Justin Timberlake), and Millennials are learning that they’re the next in line for the musical chopping block.
Someone on Reddit attempted to discuss this with others, particularly whether or not people are choosing to listen to their old classics instead of new releases.
They wrote: “Someone asked me ‘what music do you like?’ Did I really want to tell them I still listen to the Backstreet Boys? Yes. I did. No shame.
“BSB entire discography plays non stop. Some Britney, Bon Jovi, Celine Dion, Brandy, etc.
“Psychologically what does this mean? I don’t know. I’ll talk to my therapist about it lol.”
People in the comments confirmed that they still listen to their classics.
