Trigger warning: This article discusses suicide
A family have been struck by double tragedy after a mum died shortly after the death of her teenage son last year.
16-year-old Ethan Hardman had been found dead on 14 October last year after his parents called the police when he didn't return to his mum's house after being at his dad's.
The teenager was last seen leaving his father's home at 6:10pm and mobile phone records showed that Ethan was in a wooded area near Charnley Fold Lane, Walton-le-Dale.
The 16-year-old was found dead by police three hours after he was reported missing, with Lancashire Live reporting that police found notes on the teenager's phone indicating that he planned to take his own life.
They also report that Ethan's phone had been turned off at 10:48pm, about an hour before his body was found.
After an examination from a coroner, the verdict of suicide was given.
Following her son's death, Ethan's mum Camille struggled to cope and told family members that she 'no longer felt able to survive without him'.
Several days after the teenager's death, she was admitted to a mental health unit after family members expressed concerns that Camille was expressing suicidal thoughts.
Camille took her own life aged 45 on 8 December, at the same spot that Ethan's body had been found.
An inquest into her death found that she had been discharged to attend her son's funeral and kept speaking about ending her life.
The inquest, which was held yesterday (22 May) at Preston Coroner's Court, heard from Camille's partner Richard Benson that her mental health had been 'extremely fragile' after Ethan's death.
She 'no longer felt able to survive without Ethan' and said she had begun to experience visions of her son's body being found.
On the morning of 8 December, she was spotted sitting on a footpath by a dog walker who said she'd told him they were near the place her son had died.
The dog walker said he helped her to her feet and was told she would go home, and he later saw a Facebook post from her in the afternoon.
However, she was later found dead with the inquest hearing that her sister called police after realising that she wasn't at home and had left her phone behind.
Her family also found a note explaining what she wanted to happen after her death.
