Last night's 2024 Paris Olympics closing ceremony was one for the history books, and people won't be forgetting that viral Tom Cruise kiss for a while to come.
The Olympics, which kicked off on 26 July, has given us many iconic moments to look back on, but the escapades of 62-year-old Vanilla Sky actor Cruise may top them all.
First of all, Cruise shocked viewers when he completed a zipwire.

He flew down a wire rope from Stade de France roof, before landing on stage to collect the Olympic flag from gold medallist Simone Biles.
Then pre-recorded footage began to play which saw Cruise fly over the Atlantic Ocean, skydive out of a plane and raise the flag over the Hollywood sign.
Just an average day for the Oscar winner.

The zipwire moment aside, people are now loving an exchange between the actor and a fan during the closing ceremony.
Footage shows a woman putting her arm around Cruise and taking a photo with him, while kissing his cheek.
Cruise then moves his face towards hers and it looks as though they almost enjoy a full-on kiss, before landing another cheek kiss.
She won't be forgetting that in a hurry.

A third added: "Ok I wanna know who the woman Olympian was that grabbed @TomCruise and kissed him in the cheek…lol. Talk about shooting your shot."
Others pointed out that if intentional, perhaps the exchange shouldn't have happened.
One person wrote: "It's never ok to grab and kiss a stranger like that, no matter who they are!"

It does seem as though it was a rushed double-kiss attempt that went slightly wrong in the moment, and Cruise hasn't addressed it at the time of writing.
Following his appearance at the ceremony, Cruise then took to social media to extend some gratitude and share a photo of himself.
In a selfie that shows him smiling while dressed in a white shirt and black jacket, Cruise captioned the snap: “Thank you, Paris! Now off to LA.”
