Donald Trump has announced his plans to rename the Gulf of Mexico to something he considers 'more appropriate'.
Back in November, Trump triumphed at the 2024 US Election, beating Democrat rival Kamala Harris to the leadership.
Trump, 78, was previously in power between 2017 and 2021, but lost to Joe Biden in 2020.

He has now become the second man in history to serve two non-consecutive terms as US president.
While Trump hasn't been inaugurated just yet, it seems he's already making plans for his second term in office.
The president-elect spoke at a news conference on Tuesday (7 January) where he discussed the possibility of renaming the Gulf of Mexico.

He said: "We're going to be announcing at a future date, really soon, we're going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
"It covers a lot of territories... the Gulf of America, what a beautiful name. And it's appropriate."
It's not clear whether Trump has the authority to change the name but AP reports that it’s not a unilateral decision and other countries don’t have to go along with it.
People were pretty confused on social media, with many claiming the name wouldn't stick.

One person wrote: "This is like Elon Musk renaming Twitter yet everyone calls it Twitter."
While another said: "No one will be calling it this btw."
Speaking of Musk, Trump has recently weighed in on whether the Tesla CEO may one day be in office.

During his campaign trail, Musk appeared to back him, and following his win, he wrote on X: "The people of America gave @realDonaldTrump a crystal clear mandate for change tonight."
Speaking at Americafest, Trump addressed the rumours.
He said: "No, he's not taking the presidency. I love having smart people… No, no, that's that happening. But Elon's done an amazing job. Isn't it nice to have smart people that we could rely on?"
Trump then praised Musk for contributing towards his campaign, and his creation of SpaceX.

He continued: "No [Musk is] not going to be president, that I can tell you," Trump repeated. "I'm safe. You know why? He wasn't born in this country. Ha, Ha."
Trump is set to be inaugurated on 20 January 2025, during which the presidency will transition from Biden to Trump.
It will take place in the US Capitol Building at around midday and will see Trump take an oath before he is sworn in as the 47th president.
He is set to recite: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
