Meghan Markle spotted 'breaching' major agreement her and Prince Harry entered when they left the royal family

Meghan Markle spoke about life in California during a podcast interview

Meghan Markle appears to have broken a major agreement with Prince Harry when they left the royal family.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, shared details about her life with the Duke of Sussex, 40, in California during a podcast interview with her friend Jamie Kern Lima.

During the podcast, Meghan said her life in California with her husband and their two kids was like a 'honeymoon period' after their time in the UK.

During their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry claimed that the racism Meghan faced from tabloids was a 'large part' of the decision to leave. In the same interview, the Duchess also claimed that an unnamed member of the royal family had questioned Archie's skin colour before he was born.

Although Meghan did not address this directly in the podcast, she shared: "You have to imagine, at the beginning, it's all butterflies — but then we immediately went into the trenches together.

"Right out of the gate, like six months into dating. So now seven years later, when you have a little bit of breathing space, you can just enjoy each other in a new way."

At one point during the filmed podcast interview, which was shared on YouTube, an image was shown of a gift basket of ice cream and homemade strawberry sauce that the With Love, Meghan star sent to Kern Lima.

A note printed on monogrammed paper can be seen, reading: “With the compliments of HRH the Duchess of Sussex.”

The couple stepped down as senior working royals in March 2020, and they eventually settled in California and signed deals with Spotify and Netflix to earn their own money, The Times reports.

The publication further says that Harry and Meghan had agreed with the late Queen Elizabeth II not to use their HRH titles in the future, though they would retain the titles, and as a result, Prince Harry had his HRH title removed on the royal family’s website, Royal.uk, in late 2023.

The website now lists Harry and Meghan as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their respective biography pages.

In a 2020 statement issued by the Palace, it was confirmed that the Sussexes 'will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the royal family'.

The Times says that this suggests that they would not be able to use HRH for commercial purposes, such as to promote a series, with Meghan being credited as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex in her Netflix lifestyle series.

However, the Sussexes' reps have issued a statement to address the situation, telling Hello! Magazine that the couple 'do not use' their HRH titles, despite no legal formal removal of the titles.

The couple have kept their Sussex titles following their 2018 marriage and once they stepped down from their roles as senior royals, the couple lost their patronages and Prince Harry also had to give up his military appointments.
