Naming your newborn baby in the public eye was never going to be a walk in the park, especially if you're a member of the Royal Family like Princess Beatrice.
If she made a traditional choice, she'd be slammed as 'boring' - but if she picked an eccentric name, everyone would've rolled their eyes.
Apparently, however, there were several royal guidelines that the princess was advised to follow when naming her newborn daughter, who was welcomed into the world last week.

Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were scheduled to have a new addition to their family arrive in the springtime, but the couple revealed earlier this week that the 36-year-old had given birth prematurely.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (29 Jan), the royal couple - who wed in 2020 - shared a sweet snap of their baby girl, seen donning a long-sleeved baby sleepsuit and wrapped in a pink blanket revealing she'd been born on the 22nd.
Buckingham Palace later revealed that Beatrice and 41-year-old property developer Edoardo's daughter had been named Athena Elizabeth Rose, and that she was doing well.

The moniker chosen for the tot has since sparked much debate, with many wondering where the inspiration for each name came from.
One theory - as per Tatler - suggests the letter 'A' in her first name could be a tribute to Beatrice's father Prince Andrew, with the couple's three-year-old daughter Sienna supposedly named after her mother, Sarah.
'Elizabeth', meanwhile is believed to be a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II (Beatrice's grandmother), while it's thought that 'Rose' could be a reference to the historical symbol of the York family (being that her parents are still known as the Duke and Duchess of York).

As we say, however, while the choices themselves mightn't have been easy for the couple to make, at least they had a couple of royal guidelines to fall back on - including one which suggests monarchy members give their offspring three names.
Beatrice's sister Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank have a son named August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, born in 2022.
This reportedly honours his great-great-great-great-great-grandfather Prince Albert, his great-grandfather Prince Philip, and his other great-great-great-great-great-grandfather, Reverend Edward Hawke Brooksbank.
Their second son, Ernest George Ronnie, was born in 2023, with Eugenie revealing at the time of his birth that he's 'named after his great great great Grandfather George, his Grandpa George and my Grandpa Ronald'.

The Wales' children also have three names each.
Prince George Alexander Louis is reportedly named after his great-grandfather King George VI, his grandmother the late Queen (whose middle name was Alexandra, and father Prince William, whose middle name is Louis.
Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana is also named after Queen Elizabeth and William's late mother, Princess Diana.

Prince Louis Arthur Charles' name also honour dad William's middle name, as well as Prince Philip's uncle Lord Louis Mountbatten, and grandfather, King Charles III.
