Checking your Sky contract could save you hundreds of pounds a year, customers have found.
With living costs soaring for Brits, many are looking for ways to cut costs and save money where they can. And now, Sky customers are reporting a drastic cut in their bills after getting in touch with the provider to 'check' their contract and enquire about deals and offers.

Discussing their experience, one customer wrote on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group: "Realised just out of contract with Sky, ring them up and reduce bills immediately from £62.50 a month to £46 inc Netflix, which in turn saves me a further £9.99 a month. Over 18 months that'll be nearly £600. Always worth checking contract dates."
After sharing the post, others reported a similar experience.
One said: "Rang sky to see if I could lower my bill. Like you out of contract and managed to reduce bill by just over £20 a month. Worth making the phone call."
"Mine was £74 down to £40 ... never accept their first offer. They can do better," added a second.

While another wrote: "Got £52.50 deal yesterday. Super fast broadband, HD, Netflix, line rental."
And a fourth added: "Got mine to £56 down from £93. Always worth a call and be polite but pushy."
Meanwhile a fifth said: "I got mine to 50 from 80 with sky including broadband, Netflix and movies."

Another customer added that they regularly call Sky to see if they can get a better deal on their package.
"We always phone them even in contract to see what deals they have. We have free Netflix and Disney+ plus a hole host of deals on our package as we have every thing," they wrote.
"My bills were £92 a month. I told them I wanted to cancel because I could not afford the bill and they dropped my monthly payments to £48. That's with broadband and movie's. Glad I called them," reported another.
While some have said they rang Sky and were unable to reduce the price of their contract, it certainly sounds like it's worth checking.

In other money saving news, we recently told you how Martin Lewis has revealed a little known trick that could save you up to £96 per year on your broadband.
Martin has reminded broadband customers that they may be eligible for cheap, long-term social tariffs - which are rates available for eligible households who might be struggling to afford their broadband or phone services.

The MSE team explains: "If you're on a lower income, for example, claiming universal credit, we've a full list of social tariffs which are cheap long-term. Some looking for work are even eligible for six months' free broadband."
To make it clearer for customers, Martin has listed the social tariffs available, and the eligibility requirements for each. You can view them here. It's important to note that these deals usually aren't listed on comparison sites.
