When it comes to jetting off on our holidays and getting the airport horror out of the way, many of us try to strategise arriving to the airport early to get our luggage checked in first - but it may be fruitless endeavour.
Every day is a school day when it comes to the dos and don'ts of travelling, but I think it's always best to be in the loop with this kind of thing.
Especially when it comes to our luggage, as the thought of losing our carefully crafted baggage is enough to send a shiver down our spines.

There's little else worse than a long queue to check yourself and your bags in at the airport, when all we want to do is sit in the terminal and drink an overpriced pint and some dry nachos.
So, it's no wonder many of us have opted to get there with plenty of time stretched before us, in a bid to drop our bags off as early as possible and drift around the airport without a care in the world, safe in the knowledge that our bags will be some of the first to be dropped off on the other side.
Well - this is actually not guaranteed, according to an expert.

The baggage handler took to Reddit to share they were up to sharing 'basically anything', so naturally, an influx of questions ensued.
One person asked: "I have a theory that the earlier you check in, the lower in the stack your suitcase will be. Then it gets loaded onto the plane and is now on the top of the pile. Upon arriving at the destination, it gets unpacked again going to the bottom of the pile, which means your suitcase will come out to the carousel last.
"Any truth to this?"

The baggage handler replied: "There is some truth to this, but it isn't a hard and fast rule. A lot of the times when dollies of bags are picked up by the ramp team, they get mixed up."
Damn, so it's probably worth having a bit of a lie in then.
Their advice didn't stop there, though.
They also shared their opinion on the worst type of baggage to buy is the type with no wheels.

They said: "In my airline, none of our holds are bin loaded, so we have to manually stack the bags inside each hold, and they can get fairly long.

"If your bag has at least 2 high quality wheels, then it allows us to roll them down the hold quickly, making it easier for us. Otherwise, we have to throw the bags in order to keep to the scheduled times."
The baggage handler added: "My absolute least favourite bags are the ones that have 4 wheels, but one of them is seized up, so we try to roll it down, but it just falls over after moving 6 inches."
Lessons well and truly learned!
