After we've battled our way past expensive drinks and tried to resist a new pair of sunglasses from duty free, it always makes us feel special when we're getting on a plane and the flight attendant greets us with a warm hello.
It feels like they've chosen us specifically to greet because they just love our vibe so much.
Then we hear them saying hello to the person behind us but somehow, we still feel special.
Well, despite us thinking they might just be the friendliest profession of all time, it actually turns out there's a very specific reason why the flight attendants are so friendly and eager to say hello.

As well as being a video-sharing app, TikTok also functions as one of the main places we get educated on things these days.
One flight attendant has taken to the app to shed some light on the actual reasons why she and her colleagues are so happy to see you.
Raina, who posts on @itsmekikooooo, dished the dirt.
She reveals in the viral video: "Did you know that your flight attendant greets you not only out of politeness, but also... to check whether you are too drunk or sick to fly."

Light bulb moment! And it makes so much sense, considering how much of a staple it has become to load up on prosecco before jetting off on holiday.
The video, which has gained over 160,000 likes, attracted many comments from bewildered viewers.
One person wrote: "I knew you were judging me! But I thought it was to see if I looked like a security threat."

Another added: "Ah so this is why they all stare directly into my soul as soon as I step foot on the plane."
A third chimed: "I always thought it was my devastatingly good looks and awesome personality. Now I'm heart-broken."

Pilot Jimmy Nicholson shared his 'water bottle hack', for staying calm in times of turbulence.
He showed followers his water bottle and although the plane itself was experiencing rockiness, his water remained quite still.
This served as a lesson that if your water inside isn't moving much, it indicated that the plane wasn't rocking as much as it seemed - and there's nothing to worry about!
Noted and noted.
