A jetsetter has warned all travellers not to listen to any old travel hack you see on social media as there can be seriously disruptive consequences.

When getting advice on tips and tricks for the airport, it's always best to listen to airport staff, travel experts or flight attendants.

For example, we've heard from the best in the business that you should always strive to avoid exchanging currency at the airport, and that adding ribbons to your luggage in order to make is more easily-identifiable is a bad idea.

But sometimes it's your average Joe that comes up with travel hacks and it turns out they can have very stressful real-life repercussions.

Of all the places to push boundaries, it's safe to say the airport shouldn't be on the list.

While we know that it's incredibly stressful trying to adhere to an airline's minuscule baggage allowance - sometimes it's just better to pay the difference than trying to get away with hiding items.

A 'hack' that's been circulating on the internet for some time now and went viral has been dubbed the 'pillow hack'.

Essentially, people have been taking the stuffing out of a pillow or neck pillow and adding in their own extra holiday items and sneaking it onto the plane.

But, as one woman revealed with airport footage, there's a big chance it's not going to work.

It was only a matter of time until they became wise to the grift.

A woman that goes by 'Natasha Organic' online posted a TikTok that showed one traveller who had attempted to get away with the pillow manoeuvre being reprimanded by airport staff and was left unable to board the plane at Orlando International Airport.

She said in a voiceover of the footage: "Stop letting social media give you tips and tricks because sometimes it's not gonna work.

"This dude was trying to take in a pillowcase full of clothing and other items which he is stating was simply just a pillowcase and the dude was was like bro, everybody can see it's not a freaking pillow, like come on.

"They gave him the chance to pay for it, he went all the way up until they closed the doors to be like okay, I'll pay for it now, and then he tried to like bogart his way into the freaking, into the plane."

Natasha concluded: "He ended up getting escorted out, so stop listening to the internet."

The viral video has received a number of comments from fellow travellers.

One person wrote: "The airport is the one place I’m making sure I’m a model citizen. Are ppl not afraid of felonies and the no fly list?"

Another said: "You can still listen to the internet but if it doesn't work out just be prepared to pay and keep it moving."

While a third chimed: "That's one way to get on the no fly list."
