UK's hottest day of the year is expected to finally land next week

UK's hottest day of the year is expected to finally land next week

It's well over the previous hottest day of 2024, 25.9C last month

It's finally happening guys - it's finally actually going to feel like summer.

Whack out the BBQs, paddling pools, SPF and - of course - a big old jug of Pimms because the UK's hottest day of the year is expected to finally land next week, and I'm sure we're all buzzing to finally receive a much-needed dose of vitamin D.

It seems like we can finally have the hot girl summer we've been dreaming of as the Met Office's long range forecast has predicted that we'll see the mercury seriously rising on one particular day next week.

Now, the Met Office states that the weather will be 'predominantly fine and settled' through the Monday 24 June - Wednesday 3 July period with 'much of the country turning much warmer than we have seen in recent weeks'.

It will be mostly 'dry throughout' and 'likely to turn increasingly warm as we move into next week'.

If you love a good sunbathe, you'll be buzzing as there is a chance that this could persist for much of the rest of the period, turning increasingly hot.

According to the long range forecast, we'll see highs of a whopping 27C next Wednesday (26 June) in London.

The rest of the country won't be quite as warm. Manchester will have highs of 24C next Monday and Tuesday (24 and 25 June).

Liverpool will reach 23C on Tuesday, while Leeds will reach highs of 24C on Monday and Tuesday.

Grahame Madge, Met Office spokesman told Tyla: "Over the coming week an area of high pressure will continue to build across most of the UK."

He continued: "This is already bringing fine conditions, and by the end of the weekend daytime maximum temperatures will see a further elevation in temperature values with an isolated value of 30C not completely ruled out, although temperatures of 28C or 29C are more likely.

"The conditions are forecast to last until at least the middle of next week."

Given that the hottest day of the year so far has been 25.9C - I'm sure we're all beyond excited to do away with the extra layers, put your brolly away for good and fill your calendar with a bunch of beer garden antics to celebrate the Euros the right way.

Just to be sure to stay hydrated and stock up on deodorant...
