It's the bizarre case currently gripping the internet after Jillian Shriner - the wife of Weezer musician Scott Shriner - was shot by police in the midst of a 'chaotic' hit and run chase earlier this week.
Shocking footage began doing the rounds of the author, 51, surrendering to police after having been shot in the shoulder, before she was eventually taken for medical care for the non-life-threatening injury and absentee booked on suspicion of attempted murder.
Understandably, some have been left confused about the chain of events that lead up to the incident.
So, here's everything we know about the incident so far.
What happened between the police and Jillian Shriner?
Jillian became embroiled in an altercation with police on Monday (7 April) at around 3.25pm near her and husband Scott's home in Los Angeles' Eagle Rock neighbourhood.
At the time, California Highway Patrol (CHP) had called LA police for backup while investigating a three-car hit-and-run in the area.
The collision occurred on the 134 Freeway and Figueroa Street, with the suspect fleeing on foot towards Jillian's residential neighbourhood.
A report issued by the LAPD stated that a handful of Northeast Division uniformed officers responded to the crash and established a perimeter.
Minutes later, they were directed by CHP to the rear of a residence of Waldo Place, where one suspect was last seen running.
Having witnessed the incident, Jillian also allegedly pursued the fleeing suspect while armed with a gun, police said.
"As the officers were in the rear yard of that residence, they observed a female, later identified as 51-year-old Jillian Shriner, in the yard of a neighbouring residence armed with a handgun," police officials explained.

As police approached Jillian, a spokesperson for the force claimed officers on the scene ordered her to drop the handgun 'numerous times' but she 'refused'.
"Shriner then pointed the handgun at the officers, and an Officer-Involved Shooting occurred," the LAPD stated.
It was at this point that Jillian was 'struck by gunfire and fled into her residence'.
Footage of the incident was filmed by KTLA’s helicopter, Sky5, and has since gone viral online.

Jillian was subsequently taken to custody after being treated by medics for her injuries.
She is understood to have sustained a 'non-life-threatening gunshot wound' to her shoulder.
Jillian Shriner was not involved in the hit-and-run
LAPD officers later confirmed that Jillian was not involved in the hit-and-run, and only pursued the suspects after one allegedly approached her residence.
"One of the male suspects connected with the hit-and-run was detained by CHP, cited, and released," a police press statement explained.
"The other two suspects were not located."
Jillian has since been released from custody after being booked for attempted murder, according to KLTA.
