Woman's Theory On Why She Lets Men Pay On Dates Sparks Furious Debate

There are lots of points to think about here.

A debate that always gets people riled up is whether men should pay for dates or whether women should pay - or contribute to the bill as well.

Everyone, and every generation, seems to have a different answer.

Now, TikTok is debating this very topic after one woman posted a video and made several points which have certainly caused a lot of conversation.

Watch the video below:

A TikToker named Liz, aka @blackbeancrunchwrap, posted the video that ignited the debate. In her caption she says: “I told my therapist that I feel guilty when men pay on dates and she that when she’s on a date and the [cheque] comes she simply asks the guy ‘do you need any help with that?”

Kiera Breaugh, another TikToker, who uses the handle @kierabreaugh, posted a long and detailed response after the topic of whether women should pay on dates reached TikTok.

“It's compensation for spending time with a man,” one woman shared in the comments.

Reacting to Kiera’s argument, women replied “so well said” and someone else wrote: “Time is money and my time is valuable!”

However not all women agreed. “Some of us don’t want to risk having him feel entitled to something more because he paid,” said another.

Even though nobody should ever have to feel pressured into doing something they don’t want to do, many women in the comments felt the same way. Offering to pay because they want to avoid letting the man feel “entitled” if he pays was a common feeling.

“I think it’s unsafe to let him pay,” another woman shared. “Because now you ~owe~ him. I’ve had friends sexually assaulted for that. I will never let anyone pay for me.”

Another woman explained why she doesn’t let the man pay. “Nope. I won’t give them any more reason to feel entitled to my body. Paying also reveals the sexists, they get mad mad.”

Some women said they prefer to pay for their own meal and drinks (

On the other hand, some women just like paying for their food because they can. "I don’t do it to prove anything I just like to pay for my own things in all contexts," one TikTok user replied. "I think that’s okay too."

A second woman shared a similar opinion, writing: "I pay for what I've ordered, whether its date, with family or friends. It's nothing to do with patriarchy or proving something. If someone insists then".

What do you think?
