A nail tech has revealed the one thing she hates people asking for when they get their nails done.
If you're a regular at the nail salon, you'll know there are things you should do and things you absolutely shouldn't do.

For example, do come prepared - i.e., don't spend the whole appointment deciding what you want and changing your mind a million times - don't be on your phone constantly and *do* use your cuticle oil to keep your nails as healthy and hydrated as possible.
But now, one nail tech has explained the one thing clients ask for that she hates doing - and it actually makes so much sense.
Taking to Reddit, one person shared a post asking why their nail tech never files their nails short enough.
"I'm booking an appointment for my mum and I for a girls' day as I haven't been off since a week before mothers' day and won't be for another 10 days," they wrote.

"Here's the issue; I'm a nurse. Washing my hands on a constant basis causes my nails to be brittle and therefore break easily so I want fakes. Yet, they have to be quite short. But I like having cute nails."
The woman explained that while she usually tries to ask for short nails, her nail tech apparently often pushes back.
"Last time I tried to get short nails the tech was pretty annoyed and refused to go any shorter. The nails were still pretty long for my taste; definitely too long to be considered acceptable in my job," she said.

"I very rarely get them done. Last time I did was like, a year ago. Is it like a publicly known fact that you shouldn't get fake nails if you want them really short?"
Other Redditors said they had also experienced the same problem, but couldn't understand why.
That is, until a nail tech stepped in and provided a possible explanation.
"I might have an explanation. I hate to admit that I hate applying tips if I’m going to cut everything off but a couple millimetres," they said.

"In the salon I worked at, I wasn’t allowed to do extensions with forms unless I charged a premium so I had to apply tips bc most people aren’t aware of the other option.
"Anytime someone asked me to cut the tips down to be flush with their fingertips I would think, 'what is the point?' There are so many other products one can use to keep the length healthy and avoid brittleness.
"If I am extending the nails only by a few millimeters, it is a waste of time for me to apply tips and prep them. It is much more efficient to build an extension over forms. For ME."
That makes a lot of sense, to be fair.
