'Don’t speak with your mouth full', 'Keep your elbows off the table', and, 'Hold your knife and fork properly' are all basic manners that were instilled into us as children
But one couple who could arguably use a refresher course in dinner table etiquette are Sophie and Lucas, who appeared on Couples Come Dine With Me this week. Have a look for yourself if you're not eating:
The pair took part in the popular Channel 4 show, which saw partners cook for two other couples in a bid to win the £1000 cash prize - but viewers couldn’t believe their eyes after their antics left them feeling queasy.

Hosts Martin and Ruth cooked up a storm and served up a rack of lamb for their main course, accompanied by an assortment of vegetables.
But unimpressed Sophie found the meal wasn’t to her liking, and tried to get rid of the taste by gulping down her wine.
So far, so forgivable - but then things took a turn for the worse.

Instead of discreetly putting her mouthful in a tissue or bin, the contestant instead turned to Lucas - and spat the half-chewed contents into his mouth.
Seemingly unfussed, her partner happily swallowed his new, er, delicacy with no complaints.
However, the rest of the table were, understandably, mortified by the exchange.
Explaining her actions, Sophie said: “I thought I'd try it again but then I changed my mind, so I thought I'd just spit it into his mouth. It's a thing that we do."

Making things worse, Lucas confirmed: "Sometimes I get her to chew my food up for me first and spit it into my mouth."
While the other two pairs were creeped out by what they’d just witnessed, Sophie shrugged off their shock.
"That's just a connection that we have that no one else does, it's just another reason why we are the winning couple,” she claimed.

As with all of Come Dine With Me’s most outrageous moments, the scene has, of course, gone viral - with fans branding the exchange 'repulsive'.
“That is so disgusting, who does that at someone else’s dinner table? No manners whatsoever," wrote one fan of the show.
Another added: “This has left me wanting to vomit, it's repulsive! Perfect example of bad table etiquette.”
In the words of the late Meatloaf, I would do anything for love - but I won’t do that…
