The soundtrack for Disney's most recent animated fairytale Encanto is filled with future classics, including the worldwide hit songs 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' and 'Surface Pressure'. Now, the voice behind Mirabel has revealed the incredible story about recording Encanto's poignant ballad 'Waiting On a Miracle'.
Stephanie Beatriz, who provides the voice for Mirabel, revealed she recorded the song whilst in labour with her first child.

Now that's what we call dedication!
Beatriz, who starred as Rosa in the cult sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, shared the mind-blowing tidbit in an interview with Variety.
"I didn’t want to tell anybody at Disney because I didn’t want anyone to freak out. But I was already having some contractions when we were scheduled to record that day. I was like ‘Well, fingers crossed I finish the song before [the baby] comes!"
Beatriz gave birth to her daughter Rosaline Hoss, seven months, the day after the recording session took place in August 2021.

Co-director Bryan Howard revealed he knew Beatriz was “very, very, very, very, very” ready to give birth but was not aware she was actually in labour.
Fans of Encanto will agree that Beatriz recorded such a beautiful track, which highlights Mirabel's reflecting on the fact she wasn't gifted with any magical powers unlike her siblings, cousins and her uncle Bruno.
"I can't move the mountains, I can't make the flowers bloom, I can't take another night up in my room, waiting on a miracle," she sings, referencing Luisa Madrigal's super strength and Isabela's ability to conjure gorgeous flowers.

Encanto follows the Mardigals - a family who live in a beautiful house called Casa Madrigal. Each member of the family has been gifted with a magical power - except for Mirabel. Although, Mirabel does manage to save the day in the end - with no superpowers necessary.
Encanto is available on Disney+.
