Vampire fans are spoilt for choice when it comes to television shows revolving around the bloodthirsty creatures of the night. However Buffy the Vampire fans may want to add Netflix's new series, First Kill to their watch list because viewers are drawing comparisons. Watch the trailer below.
The eight-part series focuses on a young vampire Juliette (Sarah Catherine Hook) who has to make her first kill in order to establish her place among a powerful vampire family. She wants to set her fangs on a new girl who just moved to town, Calliope (Imani Lewis).

Much to Juliette's surprise, Calliope happens to be a vampire hunter from a family of celebrated slayers. Both girls realise that the other won't be easy to kill and in a surprising turn of events, they actually might be into each other.
There's nothing we love more than a good old fashioned love story and it seems viewers and critics of First Kill agree, with many comparing the plot to Romeo and Juliet.
The entire first season dropped on Netflix on Friday 10 June and has led to lots of chatter on social media.
Taking to Twitter, one fan shared their hot take on the show, writing: "First Kill is giving me Buffy vibes ngl".
While another viewer had high hopes for the new Netflix series and suggested it could follow in the footsteps of two extremely popular vampire series. "First Kill could genuinely be a new [The Vampire Diaries] or Buffy".

A third Twitter user shared: "Liking this First Kill show on Netflix so far. Almost like Buffy".
Another viewer chimed in and tweeted: "#firstkill is giving new age Buffy realness and I’m here for it".
Other fans praised the show for its LGBTQ themes. "First kill is the gay buffy the vampire slayer i yearned for when i was a teen."
Buffy the Vampire Slayer followed the life of a high school teen who follows her destiny to slay vampires, demons and other supernatural creatures.

It was created by Avengers director Joss Whedon and starred Sarah Michelle Gellar in the lead role.
First Kill was announced in October 2020 and was created by Victoria Schwab, who wrote the short story from which the series is based on.
Those who have already binged the entire series in one sitting are begging the streamer to order another season, with lots of praise for the show’s portrayal of a lesbian couple.

One viewer said: "We need to have a second season of First Kill, we have to show Netflix that it's worth investing in LGBTQIA+ series.”
A second viewer tweeted: “Having two lesbian ladies at the core of a Netflix show is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. In conclusion, an experience like First Kill may not come along again, therefore WE NEED RENEWAL."
