By order of the Peaky Blinders…the new trailer for the hotly anticipated sixth season has dropped – and already, fans are trying to guess what’s going to happen in the final series.
The brief trailer didn’t tell us too much, but some fans believe that we will finally discover who the much debated “black cat” is – the traitor close to Tommy Shelby and the rest of the Peaky Blinders gang.
You can watch the trailer below.
Fans will remember that in the fifth season of the show, Tommy kept seeing a vision of a ‘black cat’, which Polly explained in folklore is symbolic of a traitor in the midst.
But there’s one scene in the trailer that made viewers believe that it’s Johnny Dogs (Packy Lee) that’s the black cat in question.
Taking to Reddit’s Peaky Blinders thread, one person has pointed out that at 1.09 seconds in, you can see a person swing a punch at Tommy.
“Johnny Dog is the black cat in my opinion the trailer shows someone in a pub swinging at Tommy,” they explained. “Esme Shelby would have told Tommy about Johnny.”
And it’s certainly a theory with legs, as many have suspected Johnny before.
An extensive thread posted by u/amanijdex on Reddit’s Peaky Blinder page explained: “The incident with Aberama and Bonnie Gold in episode 2. Now we know that Johnny Dogs and his kin were the only people who knew where they were camped so this one speaks for itself. There's no way around this, if Aberama says that they were the only people who knew then... they were. I doubt he'd go blabbing to anyone without knowing.
“Johnny being in Tommy's house in episode 3. This scene seemed suspect to me because he was in Tommys house for one, with Tommy having no clue him being there. And 2 he was in his office.. why was he in his office? Surely he would go to one of the hundred other rooms or bedrooms to sleep with the maid? Why was he in his personal office? Seems suspect.”
Looks like we may finally get some answers in season six…
Peaky Blinders returns to BBC One later this year.
