Viewers thought it was all over for Teresa in the second-to-last episode, when James was forced to shoot her in the stomach in order to save her from a far more brutal death.
After the devastating scene, fans had good reason to believe that Teresa was dead, and the series would conclude without her.

One viewer tweeted: "Teresa died ..whyyyyyy😭 Why he shot her #QueenOfTheSouth"

While a third wrote: "James!!!!!!!... Surely he didn't really kill her?🤔".

Thankfully, despite her very convincing death - and cremation - James actually, didn't kill Teresa.
In the final moments of the last episode it's revealed that, not only is Teresa alive, but she had teamed up with James to fake her own death.

To deceive Devon (her partner-turned-nemesis) and avoid any jail time that might have awaited her, Teresa worked with her crew to stage her own death before fleeing to Belize, where she had been hiding out.
Reuniting with her old crew, Teresa wraps the series with a monologue, explaining: "If either prison or death were my own options. What do you know? I chose life."
Needless to say fans were floored when they realised Teresa had survived to the season finale after all.
