Netflix have announced when season five of romantic drama show Virgin River will be released and they've also decided to treat fans with another announcement that season six is definitely happening.
While the streaming platform has all sorts of options that you can watch from dramatic series to hard hitting documentaries, sometimes you just want to stick on something a bit more upbeat.
While there's plenty who love immersing themselves in the latest true crime doc, you'll also need some comfort watch shows to balance things out and Virgin River is one of those.

Starring Alexandra Breckenridge as big city nurse Mel Monroe who heads out to the sleepy town of Virgin River, the series offers fans a soap opera you can binge-watch and it's proved to be popular.
It's been running since late 2019 and has already gained a loyal audience who are hanging on every twist and turn, or perhaps think it's something they like to occasionally jump into while having a lazy day on the sofa.
Since then they've rattled through series at a decent pace as they've been adapting episodes from author Robyn Carr's book series of the same name.

While Mel didn't start off with the warmest of welcomes in the North California town, she soon ended up charming her way into people's hearts.
Even a sleepy town has its fair share of drama and fans have been hooked on the twists and turns of small town life, such as working out who is the father of Charmaine's children and getting the bombshell revelation.
And Virgin River has a new showrunner, Patrick Sean Smith, who said he 'couldn’t be prouder to join the Virgin River family'.
He said: "Together with its stellar cast and amazing crew, we’ve got great things in store for our fans worldwide."

There's plenty of plotlines to be picked up when season five kicks off later on this year, so anyone eager to know what's going on with Brie and Brady's relationship, 'the Paige situation', Hope's recovery and Doc's diagnosis can expect to have their burning questions answered.
Viewers can also expect some 'new characters' to 'mix things up a bit', which will be important because a show that wraps up all the drama in season five when there's a sixth season on the way would be rather silly.
Season five of Virgin River releases on Netflix on 7 September, with seasons one to four currently available to stream.
