While many of us might be fans of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, one fan credits the supernatural show with saving his family.
In fact, his son even helped retell the story of how the show helped them survive a tornado in a now-viral video on TikTok.
Watched over 1.8 million times on the platform, @sloppyjoey17’s dad hilariously explains the incredible rescue in the most matter-of-fact way. Watch below:
"Well, the season finale, or series finale, was coming on and I wasn't gonna miss it," his dad explained, recounting how his partner had been terrified of the rapidly approaching tornado.

Instead of moving to the storm cellar with everyone else, the content creator’s dad decided to stay upstairs as he sat down to watch the highly anticipated series finale.
Though most of us wouldn’t be quite so brave, he sat out the storm and soon realised that something had drastically gone wrong.
As the series ended and the spin-off show Angel began, he sprang into action.

"So I'm watching Buffy and about after two or three hours later, after Angel goes off and all that kind of bulls—t. I'm looking for y'all. And y'all were nowhere around," he told viewers, revealing that he found his family had been trapped by a massive oak tree.
"That big old oak tree had fell over on top of the door," he recalled, as the mechanic spoke about the horror of seeing what had happened to his loved ones.
Terrifyingly, they’d been down there for several hours, screaming for someone to save them.

The dad even drolly joked: "Which is why it was actually good that he had stayed inside and watched TV...right? If I had been stuck in side that f***ing cellar with y'all, we'd all been dead."
Thankfully, the dad managed to free his family within a matter of moments and just like in the TV show, Buffy had saved the day.
In a strange twist of fate, the actor behind the famous vampire slayer has even heard about the incredible rescue.

Taking to Instagram, Sarah Michelle Gellar shared the clip with her 4.2 million followers and sweetly told the family ‘You don't owe me anything’ in the caption.
Her post has been liked over 230,000 times with other fans of the series sharing their own messages for the family.
One even joked: "'F*** it I'm watching Buffy' is my life motto."
