Glastonbury viewers were left gutted after realising Taron Egerton wouldn't be joining Elton John on stage despite the actor being at the festival.
Egerton famously played Elton in the 2019 biographical drama Rocketman, in which he donned some of the singer's most iconic outfits and belted out a number of his best-loved songs.

The pair have since performed some of Elton's songs together, so when Egerton took to Instagram to share a series of photos of himself at Glastonbury, a lot of fans began to wonder whether he would make a surprise appearance during Elton's headliner set on Sunday.
"We need Elton John and Taron Egerton to sing 'Rocketman' together pls," one music fan wrote as Elton's set got underway last night.
Another wrote: "Look this Elton John set is FANTASTIC but Taron Egerton is LITERALLY THERE at Glastonbury so if they don't duet then what's even the point?..."

Elton kicked off his set with a bang by performing some hit tracks like 'The B*tch Is Back' and 'Bennie and the Jets', and he did indeed surprise the crowd by inviting out some guests.
Rina Sawayama, Jacob Lusk, Stephen Sanchez and The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers all had the pleasure of duetting with Elton, but as the set wore on it became clear that Egerton would not be greeting the crowd from the Pyramid Stage.
Instead, the actor watched the performance from the ground with other attendees, including Matt Smith, Kate Hudson, Jamie Oliver, and Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher.

When Elton's set wrapped up without an appearance from Egerton, fans were quick to express their disappointment.
"To whoever decided they were going to start a rumour that Taron Egerton would be performing with Elton John at Glastonbury today and get my hopes up… congratulations, you are now on my hit list. Not cool," one fan wrote.
Another heartbroken viewer commented: "Taron Egerton WHY did you not perform with Elton John babes."

Though an appearance from Egerton would have been the cherry on top of Elton's set, most fans have agreed that the singer still put on an epic show.
Fletcher described Elton's set as 'incredible' after it came to an end, telling the BBC: "You can't really put it into words how emotional it was, and how engaged he was, and the connection with the crowd. That's what it was all about."
The Glastonbury performance was likely Elton's last live performance in the UK as he is currently touring the world on his farewell tour.
