On the first Monday in May, the glitterati descends on Manhattan’s Metropolitan Museum to raise money for the Costume Institute and spotlight a brand-new exhibition coming to the museum.
This year, the Met Gala theme is designed around paying homage and celebrating the life of the late Karl Lagerfeld, who died in February 2019, aged 85.
One celebrity who is making her charity event debut this year is Black Widow and Misommar actor Florence Pugh — and she’s made sure all eyes are on her.
The actor stepped out on the Met Gala’s red carpet for the first time wearing a stunning black and white Valentino gown with a plunging neckline.

Pugh has recently been announced as the newest ambassador for the Italian fashion house, and this look plays into Lagerfeld’s adoration for a classic monochromatic colour palette.
She accessorised the dress with a dramatic feathered headpiece and showcased her brand-new hairstyle — a daring buzzcut.
Pugh says she’s been keeping the haircut under wraps 'for about three weeks'.

According to PA, she told US outlets on the Met Gala’s carpet: “It was required for the job that I happily wanted to do, and I thought what is the best way to release it to the world than at the Met.
“I’ve been keeping it under wraps for about three weeks now,” she added. “I’m very happy to have it here with this look, it makes everything perfect.”
Fans across social are obsessed with Pugh’s new buzzcut, with one writing: “The Florence Pugh buzzcut happened and oh my god her first Met Gala and it’s flawless. No notes. A red carpet queen.”

A third Twitter user simply stated: “Mother is always mothering, I don’t care what she’s wearing.”
The Don’t Worry Darling star has transformed so that she can film her part in the upcoming movie We Live In Time.
The forthcoming film stars Pugh, alongside The Eyes of Tammy Faye actor Andrew Garfield, and is being executively produced by the pair’s Marvel co-star Benedict Cumberbatch.
