Darcey had been invited to the awards show at the last minute after Kate realised she had a plus one.
"It was incredibly emotional – a last minute thought to bring Darcey because I found out I had a plus one," said Kate.
"It was really lovely because of course she’s right there at home, as is Bill – he’s a bit young. And so for her to come, and I just love the fact that she was just so excited to be there."
Speaking about Darcey's sweet tribute to her dad, she added: "People were asking saying, 'Are you proud of your mum?', she kept saying, 'Yes – and my dad!' Every single time!"

It was an emotional moment when Kate won the NTA, with other documentaries in the category including Tom Parker: Inside My Head; Katie Price: What Harvey Did Next; Julia Bradbury: Breast Cancer and Me and Paddy and Christine McGuinness: Our Family and Autism.
When she arrived on stage to collect the award, Kate added: "Darcey represents all the family, Billy, all the Drapers, everybody... I want to thank Derek for his incredible fighting spirit, we love you."
Kate won the same award last year for Kate Garraway: Finding Derek, which followed Kate and her family after husband Derek had been admitted to hospital for a year after he contracted covid.

Although Derek managed to successfully beat the deadly virus, he suffered a number of health complications afterwards, including clots in his lungs, kidney failure, heart failure, and damage to his liver and pancreas.
The follow-up documentary, Caring For Derek, saw Kate looking after for her husband at their home after he returned from hospital for round-the-clock care.
During her acceptance speech on Thursday evening, Kate explained that sadly, Derek is back in hospital.

Ahead of the awards ceremony, she told The Sun: "Derek is back in hospital after developing sepsis that again threatened his life and we are again fighting to get him home, but I remain constantly inspired by those around him - not just for their expertise but for their loving care."
Our thoughts are with Kate, Derek and the family.
