Kim Kardashian was left shocked as she was gifted with a lock of Marilyn Monroe’s hair.
The reality star was given Marilyn’s personal memorabilia at her Met Gala dress fitting at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! HQ, where Kim tried on the iconic nearly nude dress for the first time.

The attractions company explained how they also decked out Kim’s dressing room on the evening with bundles of Marilyn Monroe and John F. Kennedy souvenirs ‘to help inspire her look’, which was originally worn by Marilyn at JFK’s birthday gala where she sang 'Happy Birthday' to the president.

Ripley’s obtained the gown in 2016 at Julien’s Auctions, winning the dress in exchange for $4.8 million - becoming the most expensive dress ever sold at auction.
At this year’s Met Gala, Kim became the second person in history to wear the infamous multi-million-dollar dress beside Marilyn.

Fans took to Twitter to agree that the reality star had one of the best looks of the evening.
"KIM KARDASHIAN. IN MARILYN MONROE’S HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR PRESIDENT DRESS. THAT IS ALL,” one excited user tweeted.
"OMG KIM SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST DRESSED I'VE SEEN SO FAR," another penned.
Another fashion fan noted that Kim's dress was in keeping with this year's gilded glamour theme, describing her as a "modern-day Marilyn".

They wrote: "This is more than just a dress. Marilyn Monroe was the biggest star in the world. A sexual icon who rose up from nothing to become a legend. It makes perfect sense in 2022 why Kim K would be the one chosen to wear this dress. She IS a modern day Marilyn. Incredible."
Her decision to wear the late icon’s dress was met with some criticism, though.
“Kim Kardashian wore Marilyn Monroe’s actual dress and I’m livid. She does not deserve to wear such an actual icon’s dress,” one strong-willed Twitter user wrote.

Another penned: “This commentary is an insult to Marilyn Monroe's legacy. Kim Kardashian will never be Marilyn Monroe or will never be close to being the "modern-day Marilyn". People just say anything these days.”
“For f***s sake, Kim Kardashian is NOT the modern-day Marilyn Monroe. Stop spitting on Marilyn's legacy.”
