Liam Payne opened up about how the arrival of his son Bear ‘ruined’ his relationship with Cheryl.
The One Direction singer, 29, became a dad in 2017 when the former X Factor judge, 39, gave birth to their son.
Before becoming parents, the former partners enjoyed a solid relationship, however their two-year relationship came to an end in 2018.

Liam once shared details about the breakdown of their relationship as well as his feelings about becoming a dad.
Speaking to YouTuber Logan Paul on his Impaulsive podcast in 2022, Liam confessed he didn’t ‘know what was coming’ with parenthood.
“To be honest with you, it ruined a relationship at that point – but for all the right reasons,” he said about the end of his and Cheryl’s relationship.

Liam and Cheryl are not on bad terms and the ‘Strip That Down’ performer called the Girls Aloud star ‘the best mum in the world’.
“I couldn’t ask for someone better,” he gushed.
He admitted it was scary when Bear was born because Cheryl ‘haemorrhaged quite badly’ after the birth. This meant that Liam had to care for his son on his own for a while as Cheryl recovered during his first day in the world.

“It was me and a baby in the room and I had to take care of it. It was fun,” he recalled.
The couple’s split was announced in a joint statement released in June 2018, just over a year after Bear arrived.
"We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways,” the joint statement said.
"We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world, and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together."

Over the Christmas holidays last year, Cheryl surprised fans with a festive snap of herself holding Bear’s hand and fans were caught off-guard by how much he had grown.

The picture was taken from behind the pair, with Cheryl wearing a red coat and reindeer hat while holding her son's hand.
"I can’t tell if Bear is really tall or if you’ve shrunk since the last time I saw you hope you all have a good Christmas,” one person commented at the time.”
