While the joy of having a baby, either boy or girl, brings an unprecedented amount of joy to many, parents often have a preference on which gender they would like.
None more so than Married at First Sight Australia star Martha Kalifatidis, who admitted that she felt 'devastated' when she learnt she was having a boy.
In September last year, Martha and her partner Michael Brunelli - one of Married at First Sight's few success stories - revealed that they were having a baby.

In a post on Instagram, the couple revealed they were expecting, but the pregnancy had started off with some complications.
Martha said that she had been suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum - which is essentially excessive nausea and vomiting.
As a result, Martha said that she did not leave her bed for two months, with Michael adding that she lost 10 kilos in weight.

But fast forward to the present day, and Martha has just found out the gender of her baby.
The mum-to-be said she was expecting to be told that a girl was on the way, so wasn't best pleased when she found out she was having a boy.
Talking about her pregnancy on KIIS FM's Will & Woody, Martha said: "I'll be so honest with you guys, at the beginning I was devastated.
"I was so upset; it took me a few days to come to terms with it."

Before they all burst out laughing, one of the show's hosts joked: "We'll make sure to send your son this audio when he's finally born as well."
Martha added: "Guys I was 100% sure I was having a girl, like I had only opened girl clothing tabs on my phone, I was so convinced.
"There was no chance in my mind it was going to be a boy, I had planned my whole life for this girl."

The comments come just a day after Martha and Michael publicly announced they were expecting a boy, and just weeks before the Married at First Sight star is due to give birth.
The couple made the announcement through a montage video that shows Martha throughout her pregnancy.
And at the end, you see the mum-to-be open a ring box to discover whether she will be having a boy or a girl.
While the family cheers, you can hear Martha say, 'Oh my god it's a boy!"
