The 2023 Met Gala took place last night (1 May), with fashionistas from all across the world excited for the fundraising event.
The annual show has always been the biggest and main staple of the fashion world each year, with many coming together to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City.
But with the rise of social media, eyes have become more glued to the event each year as now, you don't need to attend the event to give your opinions on it.

As a result, the outfits become more-and-more impressive each year, with efforts being upped a level year-by-year.
Fans of the event will know each year has a new theme, which certainly mixes it up.
The theme does have it challenges though, as it takes some of Hollywood's greatest to show up in something relevant but also conversation-starting, as you certainly want to stick out from the crowd, right?

Over the years, we've seen everything from bizarre and rather embarrassing red carpet changes to second heads.
This year's Met Gala is seemingly making the headlines for its theme though, which is 'Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’.
Lagerfeld was a German fashion designer who regularly attended The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute before he died in 2019.

The designer had a slew of famous clients, too, with him creating clothes for brands such as Chloé, Fendi and Chanel, alongside his own brand.
The theme is intended to honour Lagerfeld's contributions to the fashion world, but many people have found the choice a controversial one.
In his time, Lagerfeld has been accused of being fatphobic, racist, and having misogynistic behaviour.

One example of such behaviour came in in a 2009 interview with German magazine Focus, in which Lagerfeld said that 'no one wants to see curvy women'.
“You’ve got fat mothers with their bags of chips sitting in front of the television and saying that thin models are ugly,” he said in the interview. “The world of beautiful clothing is about ‘dreams and illusions'.”
After the theme for the 2023 Met Gala was announced last year, Actor Jameela Jamil called attention to Lagerfeld's problematic behaviour in an Instagram post.

"This man... was indeed, supremely talented, but used his platform [in] such a distinctly hateful way, mostly towards women, so repeatedly and up until the last years of his life, showing no remorse, offering no atonement, no apology, no help to groups he attacked... there was no explanation for his cruel outbursts," she wrote.
As we approach the show, Jamil has shared the post once again, with many agreeing with her stance.
"THANK YOU. I’m so infuriated that they continue to deify him," one person commented, while another added: "AMEN!!! Finally someone who speaks the truth !!!"
